A cold night still brought out strong support from the local community to support the Roller Hawks. The 23rd of June was chilly, but was a hotly contested game against a full strength Dutch National Squad. Wollongong burst out of the blocks in the first term, pouring in 17 points and opening up a nine point lead. The Netherlands responded in the second term by outscoring the home side 21-12 and tying the scores at halftime 29-29.
Through great teamwork the Netherlands were able to edge ahead by one point leading into the last term, and from there were too strong for the Roller Hawks, exploding for 33 points to come away 16 point victors.
Roller Hawks Tristan Knowles top-scored in the game with 36 points and 19 rebounds, which included the highlight of the night a sensational three-point basket. Luke Pople added 23 points, while Edwin Schalkx top-scored for the Netherlands with 18 points and Paul Toes added 14 points in just over 5 minutes of court time.
